Local Roots Fund

Local Roots Fund

The Local Roots Fund was established in 2015 to support projects which reflect Postcode Local Trust's core themes of:

  • Good causes which enable local people to benefit wildlife and engage with the natural environment
  • Enhance biodiversity or renovate/create new green habitats
  • Sustainable energy projects benefitting local areas and local people

Please note that this is a specific, one-off programme of partnerships for organisations with which the Trust already have a relationship and is not open to public applications or enquiries. Any unsolicited enquiries will be directed to apply to the Small Projects Grants.

Details of projects currently supported under the programme are below.

Surfers Against Sewage

SAS Box

Postcode Local Trust is thrilled to provide a fantastic grant of almost £100,000 towards Surfers Against Sewage, enabling it to grow its highly effective network of marine conservation volunteers around the UK.

Surfers Against Sewage mobilises local volunteers to clean up beaches in their areas, thus cutting down on harmful litter that can be detrimental to the marine environment.

Thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery, funds will help SAS to expand its current team of Regional Reps to a further 50 beaches and coastal locations, extending the network to 125 communities.  It will also fund beach clean boxes, which can be used by volunteer groups to help them in their clean-up efforts.
